Now there's an invitation
to relax
and enjoy a summer day.
There's something about the wide open arms
of an Adirondack chair
that say
"Come have a seat, relax,
read a magazine, have a drink"
So let's paint one up!
Actually, for this project, I'm using a colored stain.
I thought it would be fun to try something different.
So I am going with MinWax Wood Stain in
Sangria and Island Water.
These are new chairs
so they didn't need much prep.
I brushed the stain on in the direction of the grain
and then wiped off with a rag.
The blue needed two coats.
The red took one.
Wow, there are a lot of nooks and crannies
in an Adirondack chair!
So to be sure I cover thoroughly,
I always take my pieces outside
in the bright sunshine
to see all of my
"fix it" spots.
I turn it upside down
and lay it on both sides
to view from all angles.
I like how you can see the woodgrain
through the stain.
I used acrylic paints on the star,
using a mix of aqua, gray, and white,
brushing up and down for
a washed and worn look.
Then I sprayed with a sealer.
