Painting Summer Beach Chairs

I am so ready

to relax in one of these

this summer...

or at least I love the thought of it.

You know...

the warm sun,

a cool drink,

flip flops,

sunglasses,

and a great place to lounge.

Adirondack chairs are always good for that.

They looked like this to start.

I wanted to try grey stain this year.

But after two coats

it was still more transparent than I had in mind.

It looked like this:

I decided to add some white paint.

I double dipped -

half of my brush in white paint

and

half of my brush in grey stain

and brushed it on.

I really like what happened.

Because they don't mix,

there was a separation of color.

That was just the worn wood look I wanted.

Like an old weathered dock.

Added some summer red detail...

Sprayed with an outdoor sealer.

Last year I used Red and Blue Stain...

You can read about that Here.

The grey and red chairs

will be raffled locally.

Someone will get a relaxing summer seat.

Always appreciate my friends who stop by!

These are so cute!!! I love these. My mom has two Adirondack chairs that need repainted. My dad made them from the barn doors on our old childhood house. I'll have to show her this!

Oh me! Pick me! I would SOO buy a raffle ticket. Or two. Or ten. :) What a sweetheart you are to offer your talent. Whoever holds the lucky ticket will be one very happy winner. They're awesome Deb, as always. Have a great day!

Darling chairs. I love those chairs and have 4 of them - if they just weren't so hard to get up and out of! LOL

Great job!

Fabulous job on the chairs Deb! My dock Adirondacks are a bright blue but not as interesting as yours, love the added embellishments! I could see enjoying the sunshine in those!!

They are beautiful, Deb! Whoever wins them will love them, too. I like the idea of double dipping the brush like that. It creates a really lovely effect. I just remembered the little Adirondack chairs and table my sis gave me for the kids. I think they need some Lake Girl inspiration.

They turned out beautifully! I love how they don't match exactly...the lettering on one and the star on the other. And what a great idea, mixing the stain with the paint! Lynaea @ EveryDayBloom.com

As soon as I saw your thumbnail on Feathered Nest Friday I recognized your style and clicked on over. I have several different patterns to build my own Adirondack chairs, it is one of projects to get to. Love how yours turned out.

I have been keeping my eyes open for some CHEAP or free chairs ever since I first seen the blue and red chairs last year! Not that I've found any yet, but it's not likely I'll find 3 because now I can't decided which of THREE colors I like best... ;)
