$15 Barnwood Backdrop

Over the river

and

through the woods

you might see

a wreath on a barn

here where I live in the Midwest.

It's a cozy Christmas sight

that I wanted to recreate for a wall in my home.

Since I don't have a mantel

my barnwood backdrop will create a nice wall centerpiece.

I like the simple style

of just the old barn feel

with a humble wreath,

void of bling,

just some tiny white lights.

I also like that it is large scale and small cost.

Here I go again with the fenceboards,

what are they?  my new bff's evidently.

But really, they are $2.15 per 6' board

They are dog eared cedar fence boards from Menards.

I used six boards and cut 42" lengths.

So you are getting more material for the $12-13

for other projects.

Add some paint, underlayment backing, and screws

and the project might be around $15 or so.

Lay the boards out...

Cut a piece of underlayment or thin board

to use as backing to connect the boards with screws.

Wrap wire twice around a longer screw

to use as a hanger on the back.

I used gold and brown paint for a base.

Then I brushed on about 2 coats of warm white

leaving some of the undercoat to show through.

Now some sturdy screws to hang it,

and it will make a great backdrop for all seasons.

For now it gets a wreath

and reminds me of Christmas Country Roads.

So, the tree is up, and the lights are on,

but I  still have more decorating to do!

I'm sure many of you are like me,

busy, but enjoying the season.

See you soon,
Deb
