Here's a fun idea
for a furniture redo.
Megan inherited an old dresser from Grandma
and cut it down to coffee table size.
The wood was stripped down to it's natural state.
After applying some Early American stain,
I ran a black glaze along the edge.
Then for the worn white look,
I used vaseline on the edges for a paint resist.
After the white paint dries, sand the edges.
Now you have the farmhouse style
combining chippy white and natural wood.
I love the idea of finding ways
to make Grandma's old furniture
updated and functional.
Now if you see an old dresser with drawers missing
or heavy water damage on the bottom,
remember there is still hope for restoration!
Happy Painting,
Deb

Very clever! It looks good, and useful especially in small apts, with all the storage. Good tip on how to use damage dressers.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for damaged dresser. Can you share the style name/number of the rug and its place of purchase? bjtj8618@yahoo.com Many thanks, Betty

This is beautiful Deb! I love the serpentine style drawers. What a unique coffee table this makes...people all over are going to be hacking up their old dressers lol :0) Your paint choices are perfect for the style of the piece as well ... Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Smiles!

That is an interesting idea. Any extra drawers can also be used in other ways. This is a terrific make-do project.

This turned out just beautiful! I love it.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! .. I love what you did with this! I am going to buy a dresser with similar curvature of yours. I had a question though.. For your coffee table, did you just simply take the drawers (not used) out and cut the frame left of it into legs?? .. Or did you build legs for it? .. I DO NOT want to screw this project up HAHA. Your's is so perfect!!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Jordann
Hi Jordann -
ReplyDeleteThey left the actual frame intact as part of the leg. But I'm sure it would work either way.
Have a great project!
Deb
Thanks for getting back to me so quick! .. I plan to use the frame as well.. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this what color stain did you use on top

LOVE THIS IDEA! I WOULD LOVE TO FEATURE YOUR PROJECT IT TURNED OUT GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeletethis summer I picked up a dresser much like this only with a long bottom drawer. The problem...someone cut the legs off. I am thinking of putting large wheels on it and making it into a coffee table or put on legs and make it into a stand for a TV. Your looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteTerry, that's a great idea!!
ReplyDeleteYou always do such an incredible job with whatever you create here. I'm always drawn to your signs and furniture. This was an incredible transformation and the mix of paint and stain looks fabulous. I want this for my own house!
