Here the calendar flips to April
and I'm already getting the water skis out!
Merriam-Webster thinks I will be
"planing over the water
being towed by a speedboat".
Not yet.
Today I'm up to something else.
I'm taking an old wooden water ski
and will repurpose it
for use as a picture holder.
Removed the boots, sanded,
applied white primer and then a white base.
Then I taped off the stripes.
The blue stripes are 5" wide.
The white stripes are 7" wide.
Mix white with Sea Breeze blue
and Neutral Gray. Brush on.
After it dries
apply a white glaze mix to soften the color.
Here you can see the blue stripes.
One with the white glaze
and one without.
Then I used my liner brush
to paint a gray edge.
Sanded.
Fastened acrylic frames to the water ski
with a screw and washer.
D Ring Hanger on Back.
Then I added a dock cleat
to the front just for an extra lake doo dad.
I could make a grouping
on the wall near the mirror.
or...
I could hang it on the lakeside wall.
It's a fun way to display photos!
You could also hang it horizontal,
or even put 3 or 4 dock cleats on
for a hook board ...
maybe for beach towels.
Lots of possibilities.
(unless you just want to ski on it)
Love that too.
Hope you all have fun paint projects
you're working on,
Deb

Fabulous! I love this idea. I'm going to save it to my Lake House ideas board. Maybe I can find an old ski around there somewhere and we can use it. Of course, it won't look nearly as good as yours, but maybe it will come close with your tutorial. Thanks for the detailed instructions!
