Hi Painting Friends!
I have so much old furniture in my garage
just waiting for a new do.
It has been so cold out there
I haven't wanted to go out and paint.
But there's no stopping me
from bringing this large dresser
in the house!
I'll just set up shop in my living room
and give this large chest of drawers
some personality for a boy's bedroom.
This is such a nice large dresser.
Black to begin with which is always a nice basic.
But Paula wants some personality for her son's bedroom.
Because it has a shiney surface,
I hand sanded a little all over.
After wiping it down
I double loaded my paintbrush
with gray and blue semi-gloss.
Semi-gloss makes such a nice brush on finish.
I also like that some of the black shows through slightly.
Then I taped off a stripe and brushed in some gray
across the top reds and blues.
I chalked in the numbers from a template
that I sketched and filled them in with black paint.
I like the simple design...
separated gray and blue brush stroke,
varsity horizontal striping,
and stacked number styling...
Great for a boy's room of any age.
Heck, I even like this personality for my house
in any room.
Now that was fun!
Can't wait to be back posting about my next paint project.
I hope this gives you all some ideas
and inspiration for your own homes,
Deb

OOOOHHH This is so nice. Love the blue/grey paint combo you used! The numbers finish it off. I am not getting updates in my email yet. I am going to sign up for emails again. It's probably something I did wrong so I will keep you posted! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great finish on the dresser with your dual gray and blue paint. So much personality. Any boy would love a dresser with racing stripes!

Very cute! I love the pretty blue and gray. I think it's funny that you have two signs behind it: "bikinis and trunks" and "baby it's cold outside". Must be an all-weather room! Ha! :) I'm hosting a Homemaking Linkup this weekend and would love for you to join, if you'd like!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Mrs. Sarah Coller
Okay, that was good. I hadn't even noticed! What makes it double funny is that the name of your blog is "Hope in every Season"! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks! Deb
You have your own unique style of panting and it is always amazingly fresh. Another wonderful piece, as usual.

ReplyDeleteLove it love it love it, as always Deb. You continue to amaze me with your painting talent. Sorry if I've already said that, but it's so true! I'm pinning this idea for my little guy's bedroom. His furniture is currently a natural wood color. Not really my style. If it could look the tiniest bit like this one, I'll be happy. By the way, just wondering...do your clients tell you specifically what they want? Or do they just give you a general idea of what they're looking for, and let you take it from there? This one is a real beauty, as always.

Gorgeous dresser! You did a wonderful job! I'm pinning this!

On this custom order, Paula wanted me to use the paints she brought me from Dane's bedroom. I did bring gray into the blue for paint movement. She gave me liberty with the design. She liked the idea of simple color blocking. I thought we might go each drawer a different color. Tried that but didn't like it as well as the blue. Paula had rock star idea for colorful knobs!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! Love that blue color. It truly transformed that dresser. Great job!
ReplyDeleteAdorable...love all the detail & numbers! Great job...thanx for sharing. My castle door is always open over at the Royal Blog! Tiffany
